We're Having A Baby!
The rumors are true!
There's going to be a new addition to our family!
Andrea and I are are proud to announce that we're expecting our little bundle of joy in the beginning of April, 2009. We have decided to go the old-fashioned route and not find out whether the baby will be a boy or girl. As long as things go well and everyone is ok, we'll be just as happy to have a son or a daughter.
We've picked out a girls name and a boys name, so we're prepared either way.
Leo Christopher Miller
Allana Kateri Miller
Both names are filled with special meaning for Andrea and me. 'Leo' was the name of Andrea's grandfather and the name of my grandmother (Leola). 'Christopher' is my bother's name and it's also Andrea's dad's middle name.
'Kateri' is Andrea's cousin Abbey's middle name. It was in honor of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, an amazing woman who was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1980. Kateri was a Mohawk Indian who faced a number of tragic circumstances, before she converted to Christianity and devoted her life to God. Kateri was known as 'Little Sunshine' to those in her tribe and outside of it, she's known as the 'Lilly of the Mohawk.'
Though my dad's name was 'Alan', we didn't necessarily pick 'Alana' to honor him. Andrea always liked the name and when she brought it up to me, I agreed that it was beautiful. Plus, Kateri Alana has a nice ring to it. I do like the way it includes my dad's name and honors his memory, but that's not why we selected it.
